Solidarity For Hazelwood Arrestees
Three people were arrested in March 2009 attempting to shut off the supply of coal to Hazelwood as part of Earth Hour. 22 people were arrested as part of a mass civil disobedience action attempting to slap a decommission order on the plant in September 2009. All 25 are charged with trespass and are facing court.
The State Government has passed legislation to increase penalties on climate protestors at power stations to a massive $28,000 or 2 years in jail. This is an obvious attempt to stop the growth of our movement!! By showing solidarity with Shut Down Hazelwood arrestees we are sending a message to the government that we will support each other through the courts and jails if necessary and continue our fight against earth plundering corporations.
