Why Civil Disobedience is Necessary
Civil Disobedience is the most effective form of protest and is now more necessary than ever as Copenhagen, the world's last ditch effort to secure our climate, has resolutely failed to deliver a binding treaty to reduce CO2 emissions.

Our politicians have sold out the people and our planet and it is clear that coal power must become a thing of the past as quickly as possible.
Citizens around the world are growing increasingly angry at the inaction of governments on Climate Change. Rallies, petitions, letters etc seem to being having little effect on public policy. The Federal ALP is promising 7 billion dollars in “compensation” to the dirty coal powered electricity generators. The State ALP even suggested selling brown coal to India and is cracking down on climate protests to protect the profits of the private companies polluting our planet. It seems only a mass movement of civil disobedience will make politicians take real action.
The Hazelwood and Lore Yang B Power Stations must be immediately shut down and investment in renewable energy significantly increased in order to reduce Australia's emissions by at least 40%. To achieve this Victorians must continue to enact a campaign of civil disobedience against the operation of these power stations, the corporations that run them and the Victorian Labor Party, which continues to support them.
